"Re-membering" Collection
"Re-membering" Collection
A collection focused on telling a story of tenderness toward what has been shattered.
I have always been drawn to delicate ceramics, especially vintage or antique china. These are vessels of beauty and nourishment, and yet, sometimes they break. A few months ago, my favorite coffee cup slipped from my hands and cracked against the sink. I didn’t have the heart to throw away this beautiful vessel that had brought me so much joy, so I gathered it’s pieces and kept it on the shelf, often staring at its small cracked frame with tenderness.
Then I had an idea — which inspired this collection. I’ve been gathering pieces from antique shops, whether already chipped or orphaned and missing their original set, and lovingly dismembered and re-membered them back together in a way that tells a story of tenderness and hope for the shattered. I’ve enjoyed creating these pieces and I hope they inspire or touch a part of your healing as well.
